First Impressions Count When Selling Your Home
Updated: Feb 7
First impressions count when selling your home. Here are 5 tips to help you make the best impression.

1) Declutter and tidy
Get rid of all the excess stuff that has accumulated in every nook and cranny. Put it in storage, sell it, give it away or bin it. Potential buyers will open up cupboards while viewing a house so when decluttering it is important not to shove everything in them!
2) A fresh lick of paint
Giving your walls a fresh lick of neutral paint will make your home seem lighter and bigger. It will allow potential buyers to easily imagine how they could adapt the rooms to meet their needs.

3) Fix and clean
Make any minor repairs necessary – holes in walls, broken door handles, cracked tiles, torn or threadbare carpets. Many buyers want to move in without making changes, so clean everything until it sparkles.
4) Presentation
Show your house in the best possible light by opening blinds allowing natural light to come in and remember to turn on lights in the darker corners. Dress windows with blinds or curtains and flowers also bring colour and life to your home.

5) Stand back
Let your agent complete your viewings, not only is it stressful for the sellers but it can also make potential buyers feel uncomfortable when the owners are in the house at the time of the viewing.
